  • 2025-26 Season Stats

Overall stats for the Curse Wheel this season:

    • 9/16 successful curses recorded (0.563) after Week 11
      • One curse was against Perna himself, and that curse was successful.
      • Two of the three unsuccessful curses prior to Week 11 still had residual effects: Week 1‘s curse on the Bengals might have cursed their season with Joe Burrow being out with Turf Toe during Week 2, and Week 8‘s curse on the Broncos was at 1/3rd power and only took Patrick Surtain II out for 4-6 weeks.
      • The only team to TRULY beat the Curse Wheel (so far) has been the Philadelpha Eagles in Week 2. Bear in mind that Saquon Barkley’s poor performance is due to the Madden Curse, which is a completely unrelated curse.
      • Week 11 had four curses and all failed due to the Curse Wheel’s devil magic spread out too thin.
    • 5 successful curse streak! (Weeks 3-7)
    • Indianapolis Colts are currently the only team to be cursed twice and lose both those games (Week 4, Week 9)
      • The Pittsburg Steelers and Green Bay Packers got cursed twice but both survived the second one (their second curses were from in Week 11).

ME = #15 and #16 were removed after Week 3 and replaced with “Me personally” and an extra #1, respectively. Their spins in Week 3 are ignored… at my own peril.

(Who knows how any of this shit works. The Curse Wheel works in mysterious ways.)

  • Curse Wheel Criteria

I don’t think Perna himself ever defined what realy counts as a successful or failed curse. For this website I will set up my own criteria; you may or may not agree with it, but that’s OK.

SUCCESSFUL CURSE = that team lost that week, period. It may also include one of the following:

    • the loss came in a heartwrenching manner
    • the loss was due to silly or boneheaded mistakes that the team wouldn’t have made any other week
    • a key player gets horribly injured, maybe derailing their entire season
    • some other obvious misfortune occurs

FAILED CURSE = that team won that week, period. To me it doesn’t matter if:

    • any random player gets injured; injuries happen all the time
    • something devastates the team AFTER that week; curses only matter that week only
    • the power of some other curse is mistaken for the Curse Wheel’s evil; there are multiple curses out there, y’know

Again, you may have your own criteria over the minutiae, but I think we can all agree that generally speaking: “loss = successful curse” and “win = failed curse”.

Finally: I’m doing this website for fun. If you want to support someone, go visit Perna’s website Benchwarmers Shop and buy a silly t-shirt. That said, this site has no affiliation with Brandon Perna, nor do I claim any.
